Beating Your Kids, Not Mine

There is a lot of talk about beating kids lately. A man called a radio show this morning and said that he beats his kids religiously (his words). My first thought was ,”well, if you have to do it so much, it must not be working.”

I did not beat my kids. My parents didn’t beat me and the army didn’t beat me.

I used love and explanations to help my kids. I will happily put those two girls up against any beaten kids as examples of excellent adults.

When I used to study ninjutsu, they taught that once you have to strike a person, you have already failed. It is best to convince them to change their minds.

I was very active in my kids lives, and they were active in mine. Violence had no part of our relationship. I am very proud of who they are.
